Reputation management and stakeholder engagement
Stakeholders increasingly require business to be accountable for its social and environmental performance i.e. to demonstrate how it is addressing "relevant and material" issues for both business and society.
Stakeholder engagement forms an integral part of a systematic approach to risk, responsibility and reputation management. It helps business identify potential reputational risks and areas of reputational advantage.
Our integrated approach to stakeholder engagement helps organisations:
- Identify issues of importance to stakeholders in order to focus business strategy
- Raise awareness of corporate commitment amongst stakeholders
- Inform on the best methods of communication with specific stakeholder groups
- Provide a repository of engagement tools for use subsequent to each engagement
- Provide assurance that issues are being managed effectively and responsibly
Maplecroft has delivered numerous stakeholder engagement projects over the last seven years. This includes ongoing work with the World Economic Forum, TNT, De Beers and other global brands.
Case study
Stakeholder engagement, reporting and reputation
A coherent stakeholder engagement programme is one of the main vehicles for obtaining insight into the issues stakeholder consider relevant and material for reporting, and; obtain feedback and confirmation that issues are being managed effectively and responsibly. Stakeholder engagement also forms an integral part of a systematic approach to risk, responsibility and reputation management. It helps business identify potential reputational risks and areas of reputational advantage.
Maplecroft has implemented nine separate stakeholder engagement exercised with a global post and express company. This has included engagements with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, employees, investors and civil society. We also worked in partnership with the company to implement a strategy and framework for systematically addressing stakeholder concerns. This work helped our client attain the number one position on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
