Maplecroft among “sustainable forerunners” to win GRI / ING “Big Five Competition”

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and ING - a sponsor of the 2010 Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency - announced that Maplecroft is among the winners of "The Big Five Competition" in which small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) competed for one of up to five booths worth €13,000 at the Conference Market Place. The competition's aim is enhance the profile of innovative sustainable organizations and provide them with opportunities to present themselves at the GRI conference, the world's largest gathering of sustainability reporting and transparency experts.
Maplecroft's Chief Executive, Professor Alyson Warhurst said:"We are delighted to be amongst the winners of the competition. We strive to deliver complete reporting solutions that demonstrate performance against sustainability targets by focusing on the issues and risks that matter most to companies and stakeholders. This event is a fabulous opportunity to showcase our corporate reporting work and to meet potential partners interested in developing innovative sustainability and reporting products."
There were over 50 applicants to the competition, who were judged on their contributions to sustainability. The Big Five jury included: Eric Bouwmeester, Board of Directors, MVO Nederland; Wilbert Lek, Director Financial Services, ING Group; Nancy Kamp-Roelands, Global Climate Change and Sustainability Reporting Coordinator Director CSR, Ernst & Young; Jonatan Pinkse, Assistant Professor, Universiteit van Amsterdam Business School; and Giuseppe van der Helm, Executive Director, VBDO.
Ms. Dailah Nihot, ING's Head of Corporate Responsibility, said: "Given the global challenges in today's world, it is clear we need more innovative sustainable solutions. We co-launched this competition with GRI in an effort to encourage some of the sustainable forerunners and support them in building their businesses for the future."
Maplecroft looks forward to meeting with the delegates of the 2010 Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency between 26th and 28th May, 2010.
