Role Purpose

Verisk Maplecroft’s Latin America country risks team is responsible for developing Verisk Maplecroft’s qualitative analysis and forecasts relating to political, security, and regulatory risks across Latin America. The team works closely with Verisk Maplecroft’s analytics, human rights, and environmental teams and with Wood Mackenzie on products relevant to the extractive industries.

Located in Rio de Janeiro the Brazil analyst will take the lead in generating in-depth and forward-looking analysis of political, regulatory and security developments in Brazil and collaborate with the Wood Mackenzie and Verisk Maplecroft economics team to develop assessments of the political factors affecting economic trends and developments and vice versa. The analyst will also work closely with the wider Latin America team on regional issues.

Main Responsibilities

  • Produce forward-looking briefings and insights on events and trends in Brazil and their impact on the interests of Verisk Maplecroft’s clients

Verisk Maplecroft are looking for an experienced GIS professional to work on the production of detailed mapping and high-resolution global risk indices.

The role involves working in a busy production department to ensure the timely delivery of high quality maps, requiring a hands-on approach to the production of visually-compelling mapping from global to street level. You will need to liaise with internal and occasionally external customers to develop and deliver the best possible map specifications to meet their requirements, and to take responsibility for the maintenance and enhancement of our global warehouse of spatial data.

Applicants should have a qualification and several years’ experience in GIS. You should also have strong quantitative and analytical modelling skills, a deep understanding of GIS concepts and knowledge of developments in the sector, and advanced IT skills. A good awareness of global issues and knowledge of global geography is highly desirable.

The position will require an ability to manage time and GIS projects effectively and work in a pressurised environment.
