Ethical Supply Chain Analyst / Co-Ordinator
Efficient and rigorous analyst required to work with our Professional Services team principally on ethical and political risk supply chain management projects/practice and (ability permitting) on related advisory services. Requires a good knowledge of sustainability or corporate responsibility issues, drivers and management systems; especially for multi-national corporations with supply chains in high risk geographies. Should have subject matter expertise on at least two of the following areas: human rights, labour standards, health and safety, environment and business ethics. Assignments / responsibilities are likely to include the following:
- Administrative support on internal and client projects including project planning and co-ordination

Head of ESG Ratings and Indexes
Maplecroft is looking for an experienced and ambitious individual to lead the development of its rapidly expanding portfolio of innovative investment services for assessing corporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) management proficiency and risk exposures.

GIS analyst
The successful applicant will join our GIS team and contribute to taking our map based products to the next level. The work will involve liaising with researchers, managers and IT teams in order to incorporate GIS into our work flow, research and products.
Applicants should have a PhD or masters degree with relevant GIS analysis experience in one or more of the following areas: environment, ecology, health, climate change, water, international development, mining or energy. CII Intern

Analyst position: The role of adolescent girls in international development
As the global landscape changes, it is imperative for businesses and investors to navigate the political, economic, social and environmental risks affecting growth opportunities in both developed and emerging economies.

The role
In 2008, Maplecroft started working with the UN Foundation and the Nike Foundation in their focus on the importance of adolescent girls. Maplecroft subsequently launched the girlsdiscovered.org website. This role has been created to enable Maplecroft to build upon the momentum generated by girlsdiscovered.org and will broadly involve a number of tasks:
- Regular updating of the girlsdiscovered.org website with new data
- Thinking about new ways to improve the website
- Identifying funding sources to expand and build upon girlsdiscovered.org
- Developing contacts and networking within the girl-expert world
- Managing a potential new project to expand the website's sub-national data
- Presenting girlsdiscovered.org at events/conferences
The candidate may also be involved in more general human rights and development related work:
- The identification, research and analysis of global, regional and country-specific human rights risks
- The writing of briefings, reports and articles on human rights risk to business relating to countries, companies and sectors
- Identification of key stakeholder organisations in the area of human rights and business
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:
- The candidate should be numerate with excellent capabilities in the areas of statistics, understanding the limitations of datasets, understanding the limitations of certain data collection methods. Ideally, the candidates should have experience of relevant statistics packages e.g. SPSS, SAS etc.
- Have advanced excel/spreadsheet skills, and proficient word processing skills
- Candidates should have a degree in a development-relevant subject
- Candidates would preferably have some practical experience in the development field, ideally the candidate should have worked on issues affecting adolescent girls and/or be familiar with the issues and debates surrounding the importance of adolescent girls in development
- The position will require an ability to manage time effectively and work under time pressure. Candidates should be self-starting, innovative and creative and comfortable working in an interdisciplinary, multi-cultural team with formal peer review.

Software development vacancies
The Software team is responsible for Maplecroft's information delivery infrastructure:
- managing and developing existing services such as the Global Risks Portal
- prototyping, developing and deploying new services
- exploring new technologies and applications
- developing the data-gathering tools and research database behind all of Maplecroft's services
We are currently looking for software developers to join the team. e.g.:
- A recent graduate who can demonstrate an interest in, and an aptitude for, software development in any area. Any experience in web development, Python, Open Source and SQL would be an advantage but is not essential
- A developer with significant experience of server-side web development, ideally in Python though this is not essential.
For either role, experience with any of the following would be advantageous: Django, Apache, MySQL or PostgreSQL, GIS, JavaScript, OpenLayers or similar Open Source mapping library
You will be joining a small, enthusiastic team working in a fast-moving, customer-driven environment. Flexibility and the ability to innovate are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively.
The role is based in Maplecroft's Bath offices.
